About the Glass Skywalk - The beautiful sightseeing spot was first inaugurated in 2018, it has been drawing thousands of tourists satiating the adrenaline rush of every explorer and adventurous soul.
India's first ever glass bottom skywalk is located opposite the 137 ft. tall statue of Chenrezig with a shimmering view of the Majestic Himalayas in the backdrop. It has been designed with a wonderful view of the Chenrezig statue and the stairs that lead up to it, with golden prayer wheels on each side. The glass skywalk is not for the weak-hearted as it allows visitors to look thousands of feet below. The whole complex is located at a height of 7,200 feet above sea level.
The skywalk in Pelling also allows tourists to catch the sight of Teesta and Rangit rivers flowing close by towards Darjeeling, as they finally coalesce at Triveni.
Chenrezig or Avalokiteshvara (The One With An Unwavering Eye) - As per local folk tales, is the earthly incarnation of Lord Buddha, Amitabha. The statue at Choeling area in Pelling was constructed at a cost of Rs 46.65 crore.
The Glass Skywalk stands at some 2 Kms away from the main Pelling town and it happens to be pretty well connected.
It remains open from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM and the entrance is only Rs 50 per person.
